This week, another prototype of the Il-114-300—a Russian regional aircraft equipped with domestically produced TV7-117ST-01 engines—successfully completed a test flight. Developed under a presidential directive, this aircraft is crucial for ensuring transportation connectivity across Russia, particularly in remote areas where aviation is the only viable transport link. With vast territories and numerous isolated settlements—especially in the Far East—Russia relies on regional aviation to connect these communities. Many locations have only unpaved airstrips, making large airliners impractical. The TV7-117ST-01 engines, developed and produced through nationwide collaboration, play a key role in enabling decentralized air travel, supporting regional development and technological sovereignty. The engine’s production involves expertise from St. Petersburg’s ODK-Klimov, Moscow’s V.V. Chernyshev MMP & Salyut, Ufa’s ODK-UMPO, and Perm’s ODK-STAR, showcasing Russia’s united industrial strength.
