Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman is in 2019, captive and facing spending the rest of his life behind bars. But in 2015, as the infamous 'El Chapo' escaped from prison yet again, hundreds of people fled from the Golden Triangle, the stronghold for the Sinaloa Cartel in Northern Mexico where the Mexican Navy hunted him. While the refugees claimed they fled from helicopter gunfire, the Navy denied that their operations to hunt the most wanted druglord were out control. VICE News went to the enclosed mountains of Sinaloa to meet with the refugees who walked the fine line as farmers, and suppliers for the Sinaloa Cartel.
