Asylum Justice, based at City Church, Cardiff, winner of the first prize of £3000 in the United Reformed Church's Community Project Awards 2010. The project was founded by retired barrister Roger Warren Evans, who now offers legal and other practical services to failed asylum seekers, helped by a large number of other volunteers. Having retired from law, Mr Evans has now qualified as an immigration advisor and spends 60 to 70 hours per week working to meet unending demand. "We are a large solicitor's practice run entirely by volunteers," he explained. "A very important part is our clients knowing that we are not being paid. We are doing it out of a love for them."
