SUPPORT KNOW IDEAS ON PATREON. We have more to say about this crumby label. / knowideasmedia Takes gloves off, prepares for a real battle Make no mistake, the Non-GMO Project isn't here to sell you safer food, they're just here to make money on the GMO / Non-GMO distinction. I know this because products with this label can still contain GMO. If I was selling you scorpion free shoes and telling you I was doing so because I want to support your right to scorpion free footwear, it would probably piss you off to learn that .2% to 5% of the shoes I sell contain scorpions, right? Why does "right to know" not apply to the Non-GMO project. If a product they approve for their label has traces of GMO in it, isn't it your right to know as a consumer? Why does the Non-GMO Project get to play a double standard here? If you'd like to ask them why they think it's fair to scare consumers into avoiding GMO, then secretly give them GMO anyways, drop them a line: https://www.nongmoproject.org/contact/ NOTE FOR FAIRNESS: In their own FAQ section, right at the bottom, the Non-GMO project DOES address the fact that there product's contain GMO, they even offer a link to their own standards regarding GMOs, though the link is broken, and has been for a long time... hmmm..... https://www.nongmoproject.org/product... You'll note that they say they are still the leading proponent of GMO avoidance, though they aren't called the GMO-avoidance project, are they? They are the Non-GMO project, and in the same way any reasonable person would expect a non-poison label to mean contains no poison, or a non-gluten label to mean contains no gluten, or a non-dairy label to mean contains no dairy, the expectation that the Non-GMO project banks on is that we think their label means "contains no GMO", even though that isn't the case.
