“Weaponized incompetence” has been a buzzword online for some time now. Online, usually, it’s used to refer to a cisgender man in a heterosexual couple avoiding doing household tasks or childcare by manipulating his female partner. While this is the most common form I’ve seen, it’s certainly not the only one, but the discussion of men’s inability to do household labor, specifically, has sparked a wider debate online about the use of this term. Today, I’ll discuss the problems with the internet’s use of this term, and how I’ve experienced it personally. Let me know what you think.
