First try with Electro over GScout, Electro was still a very good early game tower even before the devs gave him his stun time on lower levels. This tower (Along with Accelerator) do NOT deserve the downplay that the rest of the community gives them. If you think that the Electroshocker is a bad tower, then you clearly aren't playing the game right, that or just like everyone else who's heard of the Shock & Awe balance changes, you assumed that the game would be unplayable just like the overhaul update, and end up never touching the game because so. Only critique I have with the balance changes is the devs' lack of explanations, I might have really bad memory, but the devs never clearly stated that they wanted to make the default gamemodes a lot harder to do, especially in solos. Other than that, I loved the Shock & Awe balance changes a lot, especially the changes done towards Accelerator, I always never liked the Accelerator because he just felt braindead to use.
