Seconds from Disaster ?! BOEING 777-9X Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) RC AIRLINER: RAMY RC The first flight of Ramy's 777-9X nearly ended in disaster but thanks to his quick thinking and split second reactions he got his airliner back on the ground safely. On the first pass down the runway the vertical stabiliser started to flutter and caused the lower part of the rudder to break off. He immediatley throttled back to reduce air speed but had to complete another circuit before attempting a landing. It was apparent on descent that the vertical stabiliser was continuing to flutter and compromising yaw control...but despite that Ramy managed to get his 777-9X on the ground with minimal damage. A titanium retract pin was bent due to the heavy landing which all things considered was minor. Repairs were made and Ramy made a successful second flight the next day.
