Odisha's 1st Da Vinci Robotic Surgery Performed at Apollo Cancer Centre, Bhubaneswar

Apollo Cancer Centre, Bhubaneswar performed Odisha's first Da Vinci Robotic Surgery and Eastern India's first Live Robotic Surgery - APR of Rectal Cancer on 20th May 2022. A team of expert surgeons, Dr.Salil Parida, Senior Consultant- GI Surgery & Robotic Surgery (Apollo Cancer Centre, Bhubaneswar) & ably guided by Dr.Venkatesh Munikrishnan, Consultant - Colorectal & Robotic Surgery, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai achieved this historical feat. The surgery was telecasted LIVE and over 200 clinicians and key people joined to view the same from across the country. It was followed by a press meet addressed by both the surgeons and Dr.Alok Srivastava, COO and Director of Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar to keep the people of the state abreast of the technical advances that Robotics brings in the field of Oncology and other specialities such as Gynecology, Urology and General Surgery to name a few. In the evening, a CME was organized which was attended by senior clinicians from the state who were very keen on understanding more about Robotic surgeries done by Apollo Hospitals Group across the country.
