After climbing 640 steps up to the top of the sacred isle of Skellig Michael, in Corporal Hunter Lopez's name, I am proud to present "Star Wars" to you all. Four years of dreaming up this video, I can't believe the day is finally here!! I am so excited to share my vision of the Bagpipe version of "Star Wars" with you all. The "Star Wars" movie franchise was what I grew up being influenced by and I have always loved this iconic music. Playing this for you all fills me with so much joy and takes me back in time to a younger version of myself. Thank you for following my channel and supporting me as a musician. Your support and messages on my videos bring me so much joy. I hope after watching this video that you all feel the Force within you. May the Force Be With You ALL! ~Story behind the music~ There are many days that I find myself at Riverside National Cemetery preparing as a Bagpiper to play during Military honors for our Veterans and their families. I am truly honored to be a part of these last moments as the families gather to say their final farewell to those they love who served our country faithfully. The phrase "Freedom Isn't Free" is something that I feel deep in my soul each time I am on these sacred grounds. In preparation for these moments I have found that warming my pipes up near someone that I have played for in the past has brought me comfort and has helped me set the tone for serving the next soul. On May 4th 2022 I was drawn to go and warm up my Pipes next to Corporal Hunter Lopez's graveside. When I got to his Grave I saw that his grave was covered in all things Star Wars and realized in that moment that we connected on this love of Star Wars. Finding myself here at his grave on May 4th was magical. I immediately played "Star Wars" for Hunter that day and every May 4th since that day. I have no doubt he hears me playing for him. My husband and I travelled to Ireland in 2023 and had a goal to go to Skellig Michael where the newest Star Wars series had been filmed and film these scenes for this video. Skellig Michael is a remote, rocky island situated in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of County Kerry in Ireland and is one of only two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. On the summit of this awe-inspiring rock off the Kerry coast is St Fionan’s monastery, one of the earliest foundations in the country. The monks who lived there prayed and slept in beehive-shaped huts made of stone, many of which remain to this day. The monks left the island in the thirteenth century. It was home to the Monks who wrote and protected the sacred script of the Book of Kells. Most people who travel with this plan have a small chance of ever landing on this sacred Isle. I felt that The Force was truly with us on the day we planned this part of our trip and I have no doubt Hunter was a part of this journey. ~Dedication~ This video is lovingly dedicated to Corporal Hunter Lopez USMC and his family and all those who served with Hunter. My heart goes out to all 13 of the men and women who lost their lives on August 21, 2021. You and your families will always be remembered. August 21, 2021 at 6:30am PDT a bomber detonated a suicide vest at the crowded airport Abbey Gate checkpoint, killing 13 US service members and over 170 Afghans.
