Bulk Reef Supply https://bulkreefsupply.sjv.io/oqDzbm My First Fish Tank https://myfirstfishtank.com Hello everybody, and welcome to my video. This is a short Review of the Red Sea Reefer 170. I have had my system for almost a year now, and wanted to give an updated review. Overall, I am very happy with my system. I would rate it 4.5 out of 5.0. There are two reasons I wouldn't rate it a 5/5. The first is the plumbing. Everything on the Reefer system is high quality, except the plumbing. The pvc piping is thin, and the threaded connectors seem to fail. One of my pipes broke, and it took Red Sea a couple weeks to get the replacement part out. The second concern is with Red Sea Customer Service in general. While they did send out the replacement parts, they were slow and did not ship it quickly. I expected more. The video is short, so here are a few other things I have learned. 1) Glass- the glass is great, but it will scratch if you are not careful. I use a magnetic cleaner (Flipper), and I was not careful enough near the sand bed. Going forward, I will still use my magnetic cleaner, but will not go near the sand bed. I will use a stainless steel scraper with a handle to clean near the sand bed. 2) The black silicone seals inside the tank are great. Clean lines. But I scraped too close to them on several occasions. They are not leaking (yet!), but the clean lines are no more. Be careful when cleaning around the silicone. 3) Plumbing- the plumbing is not the best. I recommend getting a back up set of plumbing parts just in case. Once you screw in the plumbing, don't remove it. It may crack! 4) Silent Overflow- can definitely be frustrating. It is challenging to get it tuned in just right. I recommend checking it daily, because you can go to bed and wake up with the water draining down the emergency overflow. Obviously, you want to only keep the emergency overflow free of debris, so you only want to utilize it in case of emergency.
