http://www.lamfacialplastics.com Nasal cancer journey- Dallas facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Lam's patient talks about her experience following nose cancer reconstruction a week and two weeks after her procedure. For more information, please visit www.lamfacialplastics.com. Skin cancer has become an alarming epidemic today. The incidence of melanoma has steadily increased in an exponential fashion over the past several decades. Fortunately, people are becoming more educated about preventative measures, such as topical sun protection (SPF) agents and general avoidance of prolonged sun exposure. Early detection and treatment have facilitated better survival rates and avoidance of the need for extensive, disfiguring surgical resection. Dr. Lam has trained extensively in removal of skin cancer and reconstruction of the defect in the most aesthetically restorative method with a diverse array of "flap" techniques. At times, multi-stage procedures will provide the best option for effective camouflage of extensive defects or defects that reside in particular facial zones. But, oftentimes, a single surgical procedure is sufficient to restore the patient to a normal appearance. Dr. Lam is very sensitive about the ultimate aesthetic appearance and will not compromise in his goal to provide the best surgical solution for the patient. Dr. Lam is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has authored three major facial plastic surgery textbooks, including Comprehensive Facial Rejuvenation: A Practical and Systematic Guide to the Aging Face, Cosmetic Surgery of the Asian Face, and the recently published Complementary Fat Grafting. Dr. Lam has also published over 100 book chapters and scientific articles on the subject of facial plastic surgery and lectures nationally almost on a monthly basis on facial plastic surgery and has lectured over 100 times to date.
