Globe-commissioned world premiere Adapted for the stage by Noah Brody and Paul L. Coffey from Herman Melville’s "Bartleby, the Scrivener" Directed by Emily Young Find tickets at https://www.theoldglobe.org/pdp/26-se... Fiasco Theater, who dazzled Globe audiences with Into the Woods and The Imaginary Invalid, returns with a striking new take on Herman Melville’s darkly comic classic, "Bartleby, the Scrivener." Set in the buttoned-up world of an 1850s law firm but infused with the spirit of “The Office” and the absurdity of Beckett, Fiasco Theater’s Bartleby is a hilarious and haunting reflection on work, will, and what happens when one mild-mannered employee refuses to go along with the program. “I would prefer not to,” says Bartleby—and chaos erupts. This Globe-commissioned world premiere promises a wildly theatrical rediscovery of one of American literature’s most indelible stories. The cast of Fiasco Theater’s Bartleby includes Michael Crane (Off Broadway’s Dracula, Little Women) as Bartleby, Myka Cue (Off Broadway’s Export Quality, Joan of Arc) as Ginger Snap, Matt Dallal (Off Broadway’s Darling Grenadine, Saturday Night Concert) as Turkey, Andy Grotelueschen (Broadway’s Tootsie, Cyrano de Bergerac) as The Lawyer, and Devin E. Haqq (Off Broadway’s Pericles, Knight of the Burning Pestle) as Nippers. Bartleby understudies include Madi Goff (u/s Ginger Snap and Nippers), Conner Keef (u/s Bartleby), Jon Lorenz (u/s The Lawyer), and Shalyn Welch (u/s Turkey). Also joining Brody, Coffey, and Young as part of the creative team are Lawrence E. Moten III (Scenic Design), Emily Rebholz (Costume Design), Reza Behjat (Lighting Design), Uptown Works – Bailey Trierweiler, Daniela Hart, and Noel Nichols (Sound Design), Chelsey Arce (Movement), Emmelyn Thayer (Voice and Text), Caparelliotis Casting (Casting), and Amanda Salmons (Production Stage Manager). Fiasco Theater’s Bartleby is supported by Lead Production Sponsor Terry Atkinson. The Old Globe is funded in part by City of San Diego Cultural Affairs.
