Tattoo Aftercare - How to take care of your new tattoo Tattoo aftercare is extremely important. Many people do not have any idea how to take care of their new tattoo once they leave their tattoo appointment. We have created a video to discuss the top tips for keeping a tattoo healthy during the healing process and ensuring your new piece will look its best. Please take a look at our tattoo aftercare video and let us know any additional questions or comments below. Remember your new tattoo is an open wound. The tattoo might be sore, stinging, itching or you might even notice some slimy or liquidy stuff under the plastic wrap which is plasma (the liquid part of the blood). This is all perfectly normal. Your body is healing. Before you left your artist cleaned, disinfected, moisturized, and covered your tattoo. In doing this they have prevented you from having any sort of infection while under their care. Now when you leave them they are NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!!! Remember the whole open wound thing we were talking about? Always remember that! Wherever your new tattoo ventures to you must keep it clean and away from anywhere or anything that could cause it to get dirt, debris, etc around, or on it. You know the nasty things that will cause infections Symptoms of a tattoo infection can include the following - If you have any of these symptoms please speak to your healthcare professional. • A rash, redness, or bumps in the tattoo area • A fever • Worsening swelling • Purulent drainage • Increasing pain • Shaking, chills, and sweats For more information on infections please visit https://www.healthline.com/health/tat... ----Traditional Plastic Wrap Tattoo Healing Process Part 1---- 1- Leave the covering on for 2-3 hours. 2- Wash your hands. 3- Wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and antibacterial soap. 4- Let the tattoo air dry or pat it dry with a clean paper towel. 5- Apply a non-scented antibacterial cream. ----Traditional Plastic Wrap Healing Process Part 2---- (After initial wrap has been removed) 1- Make sure to wash and moisturize your tattoo daily until scabs are gone. 2- Avoid scratching or picking at your tattoo. 3- Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight. 4- Avoid soaking the tattoo in water. 5- Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing to avoid irritating your tattoo. 6- Wait for your tattoo to heal before doing strenuous workouts. -----MEDICAL BANDAGE CARE----- Another way to heal your new tattoo other than the traditional way would be to use a medical-grade breathable waterproof bandage. These bandages are more hands-off than the other tattoo healing method. It conveniently eliminates sessions of washing and applying aftercare to a new tattoo. However, there are still steps you need to take in order for these to perform properly and effectively. 1-leave the original medical bandage one on for no longer than 3-24 hours. 2-Once that time has passed you will remove the bandage, wash and clean the tattoo with warm water and unscented soap. 3-Then you will pat dry the tattoo to allow it to completely air dry for a few minutes. 4-Next you will apply a thin layer of aftercare. 5-apply a brand new medical bandage to the tattoo. Once the final bandage has been removed, continue caring for the tattoo by washing and moisturizing as needed, until the tattoo is fully healed. These are the 2 best methods we suggest to keep your new tattoo clean and to get the best results when healing. Please remember once again we are not Medical doctors so in the event you experience anything abnormal do not hesitate to reach out to your tattoo artist or to your doctor for additional information. We hope that this answers any of the questions you may have when it comes to healing your new tattoo. Remember to check out our links below for additional videos and merch!!
