Trackside at Sunshine; Metro, V/Line, Freight, & The Great Southern - Melbourne Transport

In this video we see some trains trackside at Sunshine in Melbourne's west. Sunshine is a major junction where the V/Line Ballarat and Geelong lines split from Metro's Sunbury Line (and V/Line's Bendigo Line by extension). It will also serves as the future junction for the Melbourne Airport Line. We see the usual variety of Comeng and Siemens EMU's on the Sunbury Line. These trains will no longer run on the Sunbury Line from the 1st February 2026 when the Metro Tunnel fully opens and a new timetable comes into effect. We also see V/Line Vlocity DMU's on Ballarat, Bendigo, and Geelong line services. We also see a couple of N Class locomotive-hauled trains on Swan Hill and Warrnambool services. N Classes no longer operate to Warrnambool as of March 2025, leaving the Swan Hill services as the last to be operated with N Class locomotives. On the adjacent North East standard gauge line we see some Vlocities on the Albury service. We also see the Great Southern long distance passenger train hauled by NR63 & NR30 operated by Journey Beyond. The Great Southern is a tourist train between Brisbane and Adelaide that operates between December - February while The Ghan between Adelaide and Darwin isn't running.
