In this build, I forge and finish a custom Santoku-style kitchen knife from Damascus steel for a close friend and U.S. Marine. This video focuses on the work itself, shaping, grinding, heat treatment, handle construction, and final finishing, with minimal narration and no shortcuts. The goal was to create a knife that performs as well as it looks: durable, balanced, and built to last a lifetime. The handle features blue and black carbon fiber scales over a stainless-steel frame, secured with brass pins and a brass bolster for strength and stability. A Marine Corps emblem pin is set into the handle as a personal tribute to his service and our time deployed to Iraq in 2009. From raw materials to finished blade, this is a straightforward look at the process behind a functional, heirloom-quality kitchen knife. Knife Specifications • Style: Santoku • Steel: Damascus • Handle: Blue & Black Carbon Fiber • Frame: Stainless Steel • Bolster & Pins: Brass • Accent: Marine Corps Emblem Pin If you enjoy bladesmithing, knife making, metalworking, or traditional craftsmanship, consider subscribing to follow future builds.
