April 18, 1976 - Nursing a one-point lead with 21 seconds remaining in Game 3 of a Best-of-Three first round series, Detroit Pistons guard Chris Ford helped seal his team's first series win since 1962 when he picked off David Meyers' inbounds pass and coasted in for an uncontested layup. Detroit's 117-114 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks served as an unlikely surprise for a team that stood at 26-43 on March 19. A late season rally culminated in a Western Conference Semi-Finals matchup with the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. The Pistons pushed that team close to the brink before the Warriors finally eliminated Detroit in overtime of Game 6. The Pistons wouldn't escape the first round again until 1985, at the forefront of the Bad Boys era that'd eventually lead to back to back NBA championships in 1989 and 1990.
