Washtenaw County District Judge J. Cedric Simpson said only “half the story” was given to a magistrate who approved an arrest warrant for former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore. Simpson granted an evidentiary hearing about whether an arrest warrant against Sherrone Moore can be quashed. The hearing will determine if the arrest warrant is valid despite parts of the relationship between Moore and staffer not being included in the testimony. Moore, who appeared for the hearing in a checkered suit, reportedly tried to break into a staffer’s apartment and threaten her with a knife after she made a report to the University of Michigan, according to previous reporting. The assault occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Dec. 10 in the 3000 block of Ann Arbor-Saline Road in Pittsfield Township. The 39-year-old was terminated just hours earlier for violating school policy after officials found evidence he was engaging in an inappropriate relationship with the staff member, the university said, ending his two-year stint as the school’s head coach. The detective who proffered evidence to the magistrate who authorized an arrest warrant against Moore left out that the former football coach had an employer-employee relationship with the staffer, argued Ellen Michaels, Moore’s attorney.
