With the GOES-R satellites slated to end their operational service in the mid-2030s, planning has begun for NOAA’s next generation satellite system, the Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO) program. It is named as such because it is envisioned to expand the current set of GOES observations to include IR Sounding, Day/Night Imagery, Ocean Color, and Atmospheric Composition measurements. Improvements are also under consideration for the Vis/IR Imager and Lightning Mapper. The recommended GeoXO satellite system will be presented as will plans for the upcoming instrument studies and program formulation phase. About the Presenter: Pam Sullivan oversees the development, acquisition, integration, installation, and acceptance of major system elements, such as the spacecraft, instruments, launch services and ground systems, for the GOES-R satellites. Pam joined NOAA in May 2018. Previously, she managed the GOES-R Series Flight project for NASA, directing the development of the spacecraft, instruments, and launch services for the four satellites in the GOES-R series. Prior to her career at NASA, Pam served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, training as a space shuttle flight controller and supporting military space experiments using the shuttle.
