I found a scene that so perfectly illustrates everything wrong with Star Trek Discovery. This show is just objectively bad, it's poorly made on all fronts. Star Trek used to be a beacon of intelligent storytelling, sadly those days are gone. And to preempt any criticism of me "shaming" the actress about her weight. I will repeat what I say at the end of the video. I have no problem with the actress personally, and she can be whatever weight she wants. I DO have a problem that this is not only a show set in a future with medical advancements that can keep a person in peak physical shape, it's also one about Military personnel. To ignore her substantial weight gain is to be disingenuous. People may think showbusiness is harsh, and it is, but it is her responsibly to maintain the level of performance that she had when she was hired, and in television that includes her appearance. Shows have every right to demand actors maintain their appearance whether that's telling them they can't get a haircut or telling them not to gain weight. But the fact is, this show's producers have backed themselves into a woke corner and are afraid to be cancelled if they are even perceived as "shaming" her appearance. So we the audience are supposed to appreciate the virtue signal, but ignore the obvious problems it causes on the show. And THAT is what I take issue with.
