Unsealing and inspecting a Straco My First Train Set from 1975, a copied export of the 1974 Plarail パノラマとっきゅうセット Panorama Tokkyu set. Some close-up photographs and scans of the box, stickers, and punch-out model set can be found on my website https://www.fallinsideahole.com/colle... As it turns out, this Straco set is a repackaging of the presumably earlier Ray's export set with the punch-out scenery set added in. The set also has some differences between the Japanese original including the signal, tree, and gearbox in the locomotive. The set is primarily made in Hong Kong, with most Plarail at the time being made in Japan. Some other 70s export sets like the Palitoy Discovery Time sets and some Stelco sets also used odd Made in Hong Kong molding variants of period Japanese Plarail trains with nonstandard gearboxes, but it seems likely that this set is really a "knockoff"
