I'm Jagan, and I've been working in development for over 2 years. I'm currently interning as an app developer at a software company. Today, I want to share with you how you can learn app development on your own using the internet. First things first, if you're new to programming, let's start with the basics. C is a great programming language to begin with, especially if you're interested in app development. However, Python is also an option if you prefer. Just keep in mind that learning any programming language is like learning a new language. It takes time and practice. To get started, I recommend checking out YouTube tutorials. You can find tutorials for any programming language on YouTube, and if possible, try to find tutorials in your native language. Learning the basics in your mother tongue can make understanding the concepts easier. These tutorials can be quite long, ranging from 5 to 10 hours. Make sure to actively practice alongside watching them. Once you have a good grasp of the basics, it's time to dive deeper. I highly recommend supplementing your knowledge by reading a book on the programming language you're learning. Books often cover the basics thoroughly and provide insights into more advanced concepts. For C, "Head First C" is a great book that teaches programming in an engaging and humorous way. You can find free ebooks online or purchase physical copies if you prefer. Allocate about one to two months for this phase of learning. Practice regularly while studying to solidify your understanding of programming. After this period, you'll have a clear idea of how programming works. Next, let's move on to Java. Java is widely used in the industry and a great language to explore for app development. Start by watching tutorials on Java, building on your knowledge of C. Many fundamental concepts like if conditions, loops, and statements are similar across programming languages. After you have a good grasp of Java through tutorials, it's time to pick up a book. "Head First Java" is an excellent choice that provides an engaging learning experience, even for beginners. Reading this book changed my perspective on learning programming from books. The chapters are well-organized and beginner-friendly. As you study, practice coding on platforms like HackerRank, HackerRay, and CodeForces. These platforms offer programming challenges that gradually increase in difficulty. Following this routine for about two months, you'll have spent a total of four months on programming. Now, let's focus on app development. Kotlin is a great language to learn for app development, especially if you're already familiar with Java. Kotlin is an advanced version of Java with fantastic features. To learn Kotlin, you can find tutorials on YouTube, but I recommend focusing on a book specifically written for Kotlin. The internet has versions of "Head First Kotlin" available for download. Once you have a good understanding of Kotlin, it's time to start building your own apps. Search for tutorials on YouTube that align with your app ideas. Watch these tutorials and try to follow along, even if you don't understand everything at first. Completing these tutorials will give you an idea of how app development works. I've personally created my own apps using this approach. If you're interested in my journey and how I learned programming languages over two years, check out my "2 Years of Development Progress" video on my channel.
