Vapaaherrantie. half-barrier device Jyväskylä

In English: Filmed at January 14, 2017. In the middle of Tourula business area in Jyväskylä lies an old Kangas paper mill, which end up of producing paper in 2010. After that it was used couple years as a safe for museum trains. Since 2016 however it has been temporarily in use as a loading area of paper freight trains, where they are filled with paper cargo coming from M-Real of Äänekoski until end of the year 2017. The rail which leads there, crosses very busy road known as Vapaaherrantie as a level crossing just before the gates of former Kangas paper mill. That level crossing have been equipped with a half-barrier device and pedestrian's throughout-barrier device. The road lanes have got three-lighted and pedestrian lane two-lighted light-signals to control the traffic. Because in the times of Kangas paper mill there was made quite a lot of shunting which closed the road sometimes for as long as 10 minute period, there were also installed huge billboards to the distance of about 150 metres, which are flashing the texture "level crossing is closed" to inform the road users every time from possible shunting which would take quite a long and cause bad traffic jams, when the warning device is alarming. The open gate and some signs of snow plowing tells that some train traffic have been here at the same winter, but not a little time ago. From this double-tracked level crossing the other rail however haven't been in use at many years and the connection has been cut off from rail network. Because the already mentioned temporal rail traffic is continuing only to the end of 2017 and there's been some project of demolishing old paper mill and building new some type of buildings, it means that this level crossing might be a history in 2018. At filming moment the weather was still quite a cloudy but little colder than it was earlier at the same day.
