There are some opportunities that come your way once and then they’re gone. I have turned down offers to travel for pinstriping MANY times. (For one reason or another) When Don Wood of DSD Transport in Denmark, WI messaged me (multiple times I found out later?! 🤪) We discussed what vision he had in mind for this build. Don’s 2023 build for the Mid America Trucking Show (aka M.A.T.S.) is definitely going to be a head-turner. He’s taking a brand-new semi and practically disassembling it to customize it in vintage styling. It’s a phenomenal concept to make something new appear vintage without over-doing it. Don’s project sounded to me like a fantastic chance to bring my personal style of pinstriping to MATS and hopefully make this Peterbilt 389 more appealing to a potential buyer. Yes, as if the airing of this episode: it is for sale and will be debuted in Louisville, KY March 30th 2023at MATS. In this vlog style video, you’ll travel with me from Minnesota to Wisconsin and during the weekend-long art project, see the transformation. Traditional hand painted pinstriping and lettering can make or break a truck and in Don’s own words, “It upped the level on this truck and trailer.” To me that’s mission accomplished. 👍🏽 I’ll demonstrate some of the tools and processes I use when pinstriping and lettering without getting too technical. I use Alpha6 enamel paints and Mack brushes in all my work because I think they’re the best (but certainly not the only) option for what I do.
