On the other hand Caitanya Caritamrta says that ‘karma kanda jnana kanda kevala vishyaero bhanda’, so, how do we resolve the apparent contradiction that they are not to be blasphemed and at the same time they are pots of poison? Answer: You see, blasphemy is something that is done with resentment and hatred. But to call a spade a spade is not blasphemy, is not blaspheming the Vedas. He is pointing out that these sections of the Vedas, karma kanda and jnana kanda are misleading. So to point out that they are misleading is not a blasphemy. By pointing out that they are misleading, what you’re actually doing? You’re coming to the main understanding or the real understanding of the Vedas. So for this matter Krishna Himself is saying in the Bhagavad Gita ‘yam imam puspitam vacam’- the Vedas are accordingly just giving some flowery words, don’t be bewildered by that. And who indicated that avipascina- that those who are bewildered, those who don’t have the right understanding, they become attracted to these words of the Vedas, flowery, why flowery words, because they’re misleading to sense gratification, not taking into the spiritual platform. And as at the beginning you said that they are leading to the devotional service, not necessarily, karma kanda, jnana kanda doesn’t necessarily lead to devotional service. It is the bona fide spiritual master whose instruction leads to devotional service. By following karma kanda, jnana kanda you will never come to devotional service. You will keep on cycling, brahmani upari adha, you travel sometimes going up, sometimes going down in a merry go round.
