It was not the anniversary, we waited for. Also the weather conditions were not what we hoped for. We are deeply sorry that the 2025 Grossglockner UltraTrail—including the 110 km, 84 km, and 57 km races—had to be cancelled early due to extreme weather. Storm gusts, sleet, freezing rainfall, and brutally cold temperatures around the Glorerhütte made conditions unsafe and forced the race directors to take the difficult but necessary decision to stop the event on Saturday, 26 July 2025 Despite adaptations to the route, only eight runners managed to complete the full 110 km course before the cancellation. Still, there was plenty to celebrate: Florian Grasel and Mathias Deutschbauer crossed the finish line together in 13:54:38 h, sharing the victory and underscoring a spirit of sportsmanship and mutual respect in the face of adversity. . Earlier on Friday, the 37 km Weissee Gletscherwelt Trail was successfully completed, with wins by Hans‑Peter Innerhofer (AUT) and Mari Wetterhus (NOR), proving that perseverance and local pride still triumphed despite the weather conditions to come . This was the 10th anniversary of the GGUT, marking a milestone moment as the event transitions to new leadership under Zell am See‑Kaprun tourism, ready to build on a decade of alpine trail‑running excellence built by Hubert Resch, the father of GGUT. In this highlight video, you’ll see the beauty of the high‑alpine terrain, the grit and determination of the athletes, and candid moments of the race's toughest challenges. While the weather had the final word, the endurance, camaraderie, and sheer will displayed here remind us why the GGUT continues to be one of the most respected ultra‑trail events in the Alps. Thank you to everyone—from athletes to organizers—for your courage and dedication. We hope you’ll join us again under clearer skies in the years ahead.
