They are not always very easily palpable especially in overweight people as some of them can be very small. Rectus Divarication or Diastasis is again a common condition more common in overweight men and not a true hernia. epigastric hernias causing symptoms will need surgery whereas rectus diastasis hardly ever merits surgical intervention.
