LoTR - Battle for Middle Earth (BFME 1) EP75: Black Gate (Good Campaign M36)[Hard] Why not mount the horses? It's because there's a possibility that the switch from dismounted to mounted or vice versa, could be deemed within the game code to be "hero killed" and "hero respawned" with mount Boolean flag changed from a false flag to a true flag. I.e. the game "kills" the dismounted hero, and respawns the hero in the same spot, but mounted, which could cause the game to think the hero has died. Also I'm trying to not reload any saves where possible, just in case the game might do a data clean-up upon unloading a game, which includes "killing off" all units including heroes, and then "respawning" the corresponding units and heroes upon loading up a save, which is why I said I'd mention if I did reload any saves. Why save then? For other experimental uses as part of the bonus footage. Anyway, at 8:56, the Nazgul picked up a bannerman and got taken out before it could drop the bannerman. Maybe that's the reason why the targeted group was stuck without one because the game did not manage to despawn the unit. 18:25 why I was so concerned about not loading any saves, was as mentioned above, the fear that the game would "kill/despawn" a hero and respawn them on load, but not clearing their "death" flag. The very last sentence from Gandalf was that "the elves will sing of this glorious day" a phrase we've heard him repeat in previous missions. 10:08 and 31:00 we lost battalions, and likely one more off-screen during the last chaotic fight. But we lost 2 tower archer battalions and 1 soldier archer battalion. What a bad conclusion. Anyway, another add-on that's not within the episode. I conducted further experiments and found that heroes from the Rohan Army can fall without affecting the bonus objective. (I.e. Theoden, Eowyn, Eomer, Merry) But any hero from the Gondor Army must be kept alive. That includes Boromir and Faramir, who did not partake in this battle in the movie trilogy. If any of the Gondor Heroes fall, the bonus objective disappears from the objective list. That makes me think.. If the bonus objective does not disappear, it could be implied that we've succeeded in completing it. 00:49 - Mission Choice & Brief 03:00 - Starting Cutscene 04:00 - Mission Start 31:37 - Ending Cutscene 34:27 - Credits Roll & Thoughts about BFME 46:06 - Credits End 49:10 - Bonus Timestamp 49:18 - 1.
