This is a DIY project that can be applied to many kayaks that have factory components that can't be removed while being stored outside. The sun will destroy things like bungee cords and nylon straps. The ability to unscrew these things at the end of the day and bring them inside will extend the life of your beloved plastic boat. A quick note for all you nice folks that take the time to read this; The 'well-nuts' that I show in this video are tricky and finicky to get just right. It's easy to overtighten or not tighten enough which can lead to them slipping of breaking. An alternative option that might hold better are metal versions called 'rivet-nuts'. They are often applied with a special tool like a rivet gun and are more expensive. Just be aware. Well nuts are a neat, cheaper option, and the concept of having the ability to remove the soft components from your boat at the end of the day is very wise. But the actual doing of that can sometimes be 'not for the DIY challenged.' As a result, I am not leaving a link to the well nuts that I used in this video and will encourage instead that folks interested in trying this do a little research first, if that only being that they find their own hardware to choose from. Now; As for that seat cushion... Holy Moly! That thing is Marty approved for everyone! I showed mine to a friend a few days ago and he immediately went out and bought one.
