The cam follower (CF) should be replaced when alloy becomes visible through the black DLC(diamond like coating) where the CF contacts the tri-lobe of the intake cam. There are many factors to determine how quickly your CF will wear. They are; tuned or not tuned__hpfp upgraded or not__the rail pressure set within each tune__how often you demand maximum rail pressure and for what duration you demand from it. If your hpfp is on stock internals, and it is not tuned, you may see the CF last between 80k and 120k miles. If yours is tuned but no hpfp upgrade, then the lifespan of the CF will decrease and you need to determine when it needs changing by inspecting it for when alloy shows through worn DLC. If yours is tuned for having the hpfp upgrade, it may need to be changed between 5k and 20k miles...again, to be determined by your own inspections. This video shows replacing the cam follower(pn: 06D109309C) in a VW MKV GTI 2.0t FSI - HPFP with no banjo bolt. T30's proper torque is 10(Nm) or 7.4(lb*ft).
