The Zoomies: How To Cope With Unfunny Coworkers | Advice Fight

What to do when your regularly scheduled work Zoom turns into a bad open mic. Dear Advice Fight, I have a daily work meeting in the morning where my colleagues are insufferable: They think they’re funny and they’re just NOT. This is a virtual daily meeting of regional executives, and as you might guess, the men are the worst offenders. I’ve brought it up to others who attend this meeting and hear the excuse, “Oh, you know they’ve had a tough year. They just use dark humor to cope.” I’ve learned through this meeting that dark humor has to be funny! Otherwise it’s just a cover for bad behaviors and opinions. Oh, you think “the wife” is just there to keep you from working on your car, Todd?? Violence and destitute people are hilarious, Larry?? They also try to needle each other constantly and just sound cringe and rude. I can’t take it anymore, and I’m wondering how to fight fire with fire without getting fired? Or maybe I should just grin and bear it? Dissociate for an hour each morning? You tell me. Thanks as always!
