🏁 C7 Corvette Rebuild: From Broken Valve to Track Monster! 🤯 Hey, gear heads and race fans! Ross Smith from the Garage 1 Podcast here, and I'm finally pulling the curtain back on my personal project: a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray M7 (7-speed manual). I bought this Vette super cheap—a multi-owner, base model with 70k miles and some cosmetic issues—with the full intention of turning it into a dual-duty track car and Cars and Coffee cruiser. It even has the rare Performance Data Recorder (PDR)! The DREADED Phone Call 📞 The plan hit a major roadblock. After a simple stop for a vinyl wrap, the car wouldn't start. A blown main fuse and a dead starter led me to a mechanic, where I got the news every car enthusiast fears: a broken valve spring dropped an intake valve into cylinder #5, locking up the motor. Yep, my "cheap" Vette now needed a new life! Major Surgery & Performance Upgrades 🚀 This is where the build video starts! After a year of being sidelined, I'm documenting the rebuild from here on out. The silver lining? The block is intact, and we didn't bend a rod—thank goodness it happened at idle! We're doing more than just a repair; this is a full performance transformation. Here’s the current and upcoming parts list: Heads: Reworked by Nickin's Racing Engines (new springs, port & polish, minor decking). Intake: Installing an MSD Intake for massive airflow gains on the LT1. Exhaust: Texas Speed long tube headers and a crossover pipe. Keeping the stock mufflers with the valve-flap system for on-demand sound control. Brakes: Upgrading to full Z06 brakes and air ducts—surpassing the Z51 package! Suspension: Replacing the worn-out stock shocks with Johnny O'Connell signature shocks all the way around. Stock horsepower is 460, but with the top-end work, intake, and full exhaust, I'm targeting over 500 horsepower at the wheels after the tune. Join me as we bolt this beast back together!
