Tetouan - Morocco Duration of the visit: 01h30 Breakfast service starting around 08:00, we decided to get up early in the morning to visit the city of Tetouan. We will eat when we return to the riad. I had planned a small walking tour that would take us to different attractions in the city. We first went to Place Hassan II. It is the most popular place in this city. This is where the old royal palace of the caliphate of Tetouan is located. All buildings surrounding this esplanade are clean white and extremely elegant. Several longiformes palms adorn the landscape. The Spanish Cinema is near Place Hassan II. In this sector, the buildings are exceptionally beautiful. The facades of the buildings are adorned with finely carved balconies. We wandered through the alleyways of the medina (classified as World Heritage by Unesco) to go to El Feddan Square. El Feddan Square was inaugurated in July 2016. It is a truly exceptional site of great beauty. The floor is dotted with beautiful mosaics and the panoramic view of the hills where hundreds and hundreds of immaculate white residences stand proudly is truly sensational. Place Moulay El Medhi is also one of the main squares of the city of Tetouan. A beautiful fountain with water games befits the center of the square. It is activated in the evening. This is where the Church of Tetouan is located. It is easily identifiable because it is the only colored building in the area. She is really bright at sunrise. We also made a small detour to see the Great Mosque. We obviously did not go inside, but the view from the outside was well worth the trip. We then went back to the medina and walked a few streets. As it was still very early in the morning, the shops were closed. However, the merchants were slowly starting to open the doors and display their goods.
