U zaštićenom prirodnom krajoliku rijeke Ljute nalazi se sustav mlinica i stupa. Nakon što su učvrstili vlast u Konavlima, Dubrovčani u drugoj polovici 15. st. intenzivno razvijaju poljoprivredu, naročito uzgoj žitarica za sve veći broj stanovništva. To uvjetuje izgradnju novih mlinova. Broj mlinova za žito i masline te stupa raste da bi u 19. st. dosegao ukupno 15. Mlinovi i stupe se danas dijele na Gornje i Donje mline, ovisno kojim tokom rijeke teku. The Dubrovnik Republic started to intensify the development of agriculture, especially grain cultivation for an increasing number of its population after the consolidation of power in Konavle region in the second half of the 15th century. Due to this the number of mills increased. Finally, by the 19th century it reached the total of 15 mills and fulling mills. Mills and fulling mills can be roughly divided into Upper and Lower Mills, depending on which side of the river they are situated.
