Thirsty for freedom, Paul Dufour (Jean-Pierre Marielle), a married Parisian gynaecologist fed up with the female anatomy, has an eye-opening encounter with perfect stranger Albert (Jean Rochefort), a kindred spirit. As one thing leads to another, they realise enough is enough, and having grown tired of their wives' constant demands, the two men decide to quit their jobs and renounce their former lives on a whim. Now, there is no turning back, and the solution to their problems lies in the lush French countryside, where a new, carefree, and guilt-free life awaits them. However, there is no such thing as a foolproof plan. Georges Delerue is a frech composer and musical director of more than 300 films. At the Paris Conservatory he continued his studies under the direction of Darius Milhaud and Jean Rivier. He began to compose from 1947 his first string quartet in 1948. On the advice of Darius Milhaud, he began to compose for the theater, for Jean Vilar, then for the cinema, with Hiroshima mon amour in 1959. He worked for the greatest French directors, in particular those of the new Vague and especially for François Truffaut. In 1972, he began working in Hollywood. This score is mainly based on jazz, performed by a quartet. Its thematic structure is very repetitive and appears to be improvisation.
