What Life Was Like As a U.S Soldier During WW2

Almost 18 million men served in world war 2. Between the staggering brutality of the Pacific theatre and the grim cross-country haul of the Atlantic theatre, the U.S soldier saw it all. Soldiers in Europe Endured Freezing winters, Italian mountains, and dense forests while Soldiers in the pacific endured searing heat, monsoons, and tropical diseases. Today in Bizarre history we look at the ‘’day in, day out’’ life as a U.S soldier during the Second World War. To be specific about the life of a U.S army soldier one needs to address the Pacific. Not a regular, European reflection of the War, the Pacific theatre fell upon the U.S soldier unlike his European allies and contained some of the very, very worst conditions. Wholly different and opposite to the frozen forests, bleak winters, and muddy bogs of Europe, U.S soldiers in the Pacific were met with jungles, monsoons, sweltering heat, and humidity. The jungles in these tropical climates were literally hotbeds of disease, malaria, dehydration and a less than welcoming population of blood thirst insects.
