London Routemasters and their predecessors RT AEC Regents were out in service on Route 19 Heritage Day from Finsbury Park to Battersea Bridge. As well as buses from the London Bus Museum and London Bus Company other private individuals and operators brought buses which ran alongside the regular service buses. A history of the route which began in 1908 can be found on the London Bus Museum Website. I travelled on RTL1105 and RT4772 to Battersea which is where the action starts. I then moved on to Chelsea, Sloane Square, Piccadilly and Roseberry Avenue taking trips on some of the buses in service including RT1790, RT4424, RT1705, RT3933 and RM1. STL441 a 1934 AEC Regent 1 was out from the museum and I saw this on Roseberry Avenue. Also RM1790 the afternoon tea bus is seen at Piccadilly. With 30 buses taking part including RML3 and the unusual sight of an Ipswich Atlantean it was a busy but very enjoyable day. The buses created plenty of interest for the general public and enthusiasts alike. Thank you to London Bus Museum and everyone else who made this running day possible especially the bus owners and volunteers. Also London Bus Company who provided 10 of their buses for this running day. The Ipswich Atlantean certainly made a fine sight but what was your favourite. Feel free to comment and let me know.
