ONCE UPON A TIME ON THE INTERNET aims to be the first comprehensive documentary film on the history, impact, and endurance of Newgrounds. From the site's inception as a digital dumping ground for a seventeen year old, through its peak as the premier place for animations and games online, its struggle to survive with the rise of monolithic social media platforms, and its continuous resurgence, Newgrounds's story is truly one of a kind, and deserves to be told. We have nearly four dozen people onboard to be interviewed, including former and current Newgrounds staff, users, and legends from the site's 30 years online. We also have access to a previously attempted film project from 2009, giving us a time capsule into the workings of the site and the most important people involved from that era. We want this to be the professional production that the site deserves, and with your help, we can see this come to fruition.
