Janae Edmondson is a 17-year-old high school volleyball player from Tennessee. While visiting St. Louis with her family for a volleyball tournament, Janae was struck by a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Daniel Riley, who was speeding and driving recklessly without a valid driver’s license. One of her legs was severed in the crash, and the other was so badly mangled that it had to be amputated. Riley should not have been anywhere near a motor vehicle. He should have been in jail. At the time of the accident, he was awaiting trial on robbery charges, but was on house arrest despite having already violated the terms of his bond 100 times. The only reason Riley was not in jail was because of the soft-on-crime policies of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner.
