It's finally done. My very first Perfect Grade... I had been interested in getting a Perfect Grade for a while, ever since I saw one when I first visited a hobby shop that sold Gunpla. Funnily enough, it was actually this exact kit, Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee Norn, that they were selling. However the one in the store was almost $200 more than the ones you can find online. The PG line definitely lives up to its reputation. These kits are really big and really nice. I'm honestly really impressed by the amount of detail and extra features they managed to squeeze into this thing. The transformation ability is definitely the highlight for this kit, it makes a kind of bland gundam into a really really cool gundam. The actual build itself is very nice, which I suppose I should have expected. There were so many sprues that they ended up taking over a few shelves before I was gradually able to work my way through them. Ultimately, it was worth it and I'm very happy with the final result. A few decals from DelphiDecal finished things off, and then it was time to transform it... As cool as the transformation ability is, it's definitely not the easiest thing in the world to actually do. It took me around 45 minutes to do the whole thing, although I suspect now that I know how to do it it wouldn't take me nearly that long the second time around. Still, it is definitely no small feat to get this thing from one form into another. It also gains a fair amount of height during the transformation, so adjusting the stand is also necessary. Final thoughts: yeah, this was a lot of fun. I got this one for Christmas so I didn't have to pay for it, but I think the asking price is mostly fair. Part of me wishes I had got the lighting kit as well, but that thing goes for well over $150 on the secondary market, so I think I'll pass this time around. It probably wasn't the best choice for my first Perfect Grade given all the complexity, but I got through it somehow. Next kit won't be quite as insane as this one, but it should still be a fun time.
