I shot this video (be sure to view it in the high definition mode for maximum enjoyment) at The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes Wheeler Theater Showcase, Port Townsend, Washington, USA in July of 2010. John is accompanied by Django Amerson, a very accomplished Musician in his own right. I had the pleasure of taking several classes with John at Fiddletunes. U tube now allots me a longer time frame so I am finally able to post this wonderfull session in it's entirety! Thanks U tube! John Carty is one of Ireland's finest traditional musicians having been awarded the Irish Television station, TG4's Traditional Musician of the Year in 2003. He joins previous acclaimed winners Matt Molloy (Chieftains flautist), Tommy Peoples (Master Fiddler), Mary Bergin (whistle player, Dordan), Máire Ní Chathasaigh (Harpist) and Paddy Keenan (Uilleann Piper), all of whom are considered to be the leading exponents of their instruments within the Irish tradition.
