In this part, we will explore two of them: the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple and Sigiriya aka the Lion Rock, a towering fortress that was once used to protect a rogue king. Both hikes can be arduous, but the sites are well worth the effort. The Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple is a living Buddhist site that has been occupied by Buddhist monks since the third century BCE. Lion Rock, on the other hand, is an iconic UNESCO world heritage site that locals refer to as the eighth wonder of the world.
