While we all are aware of sexual harassment and policies governing the same, there hasn't been much focus on harassment in general. The fact is, anyone can get harassed and humiliated by their bosses at workplace regardless of their gender. A toxic work culture leads to such environment wherein the employee is unable to deliver at their best, which impacts performance and career growth. Toxic work environment can also affect the health of the employee, both physical and mental. Work-Life Balance also goes for a toss. In most severe cases of humiliation and harassment, it can lead to depression which can further ruin someone’s career and eventually life in general. Both Leaders of the organizations as well as HR has a key role to play in curbing such negative work culture, however it is sad that many times it has been seen that none do their role effectively and fail to stop such incidents. Today, as there is an increasing awareness of mental health, many organizations are arranging for 'Mental Health' check up desks in office, however, many times the employee reaches such negative mental zone due to toxic work environment rather than personal reasons.
