What does Reserva or Riserva mean on wine bottle?

#riserva #reserva #reserve In this video I am explaining what is actual difference between reserva and non-reserva wine. Is Riserva or Reserva a better quality wines? Let's find out. Term riserva or reserva is legally regulated in four European countries, which is Italy, Spain, Portugal and Austria. Apart of Europe term reserva is also regulated in Argentina and wine need to be aged in oak barrels for twelve months, Argentinian Gran Reserva wine is aged for two years. In Italy wine called Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is aged for 5 years including two years in the barrel, Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva is aged for 4 years and finally Barolo Riserva is aged for 5 years. If you want to learn more about Italian wine terms, I highly recommend Italian Wine Guide and Italian Wine Central website. In Spain terms Reserva means that wine was aged in oak and in the bottle before is released. In two most common Spanish regions (Ribera del Duero and Rioja) reserva wines are aged for 3 years, which minimum 12 months in oak.
