The 90 second film ‘Basic Instinct’ is truly dedicated to the sense of hearing. A linear array of ‘slice of life’ moments will visualize situations in which we underline the fact that hearing is the straightest way to our emotions. It’s a poetic approach that focuses on perception, and since hearing is often taken for granted, each of the scenes act as an amplifier of the inescapable impact sounds have on us. A collage of anthropogenic noises and sounds found in nature allow us to follow an audiovisual path through different scenes, taken from our everyday life. Some of these scenes are very contemporary observations of ‘the modern (hu)man’, others are deeply rooted in the evolution of humankind and every other living creature.
