Scanned slides showing all the paint schemes and typical appearance of the R-36s during 1978 to 1984 on the 7. The title slide was taken by Frank Goldsmith in 1964. The white paint scheme was first applied to this fleet as it was housed at Corona Yard where the first high security fence, and the only one with dogs, protected the trains. Some minor instances of graffiti on white did appear, but white cars on this line were clean 99% of the time. Redbirds (1980s overhauled cars) also first appeared here. Red cars never mixed with other colors, but on some occasions white cars did mix with older colors. If you like subway pictures from this era, get the book sold exclusively at www.makingallstops.com
