For some people, joining a 12-step group or going through rehab was the trick they needed to beat addiction and find success in recovery. For most people, that’s not the story. Many people find some tools to abstain from their addictive substance or behavior of choice but they suffer a recovery that lacks meaning and purpose, is a battle against cravings, and a journey of avoiding triggers so they don’t relapse. That’s not “recovery”. That sounds like living in hell – a hello without a chemical or behavior to help you escape the pain. Fortunately, there is a much better approach to addiction recovery!! If a stint in rehab or attendance at an AA, NA, CA, CR, RR, SMART, SA, or any other 12-step group hasn’t gotten you to the place you want to be in your recovery, I can help.
