July 13, 1988. Transcript of Jonas Savimbi's words: "It will necessary for SWAPO to sign a ceasefire with South Africa. Number two, we also call that the assistance from the United States should not be terminated, before the Cubans and the Russians also they stop supplying weapons to the MPLA. Thirdly, that the United States in conjunction with the Western democracies they should encourage African countries to promote dialogue between UNITA and MPLA which will lead to the formation of a government of national unity. Lastly, the same countries should also create an atmosphere in which we can have election s as we agreed upon in Davoa accords. We think that it it is not just MPLA and UNITA which are fighting in Angola war which can participate in forming that national government of unity byu equally the FLNA of Feodor Roberto has to come in order to pave the way to a lasting peace in our country."
