There has been a sudden raise in the cases of spontaneous osteonecrosis of knee presenting as severe knee pain. Routinely there are seen in the 50-60 yr age group, However post covid scenario has changed and cases of osteonecrosis of knee are seen in the 30-40 yr age group as well. Steroids usage during the covid time might be cause for their knee pain. Steroids by their nature of hypercoagubility, fat deposition, thrombotic tendency cause vascular compromise particularly in the critical zones of bone such as femoral head of hip and femoral condyles of knee joint resulting in AVN or osteonecrosis.
