Next segment of Antarctic trip is a stop in the Islas Malvinas/Falklands. This used to be a big whaling port and still is remembered for its role in the British/Argentinian war of a few decades ago. Still under dispute as to who owns the naming rights. My use of "Falklands" is not choosing sides, however. Both sides have legitimate claims on the land and the naming with a very twisting history. Argentine views it as their original territory which is correct. Britain views it as territory that they "discovered/occupied" that was uninhabited at the time (also mostly correct). But that is another story. I used "Falklands" as the name and for brevity. There were three stops: New Island, West Point Island, and Port Stanley. Home to tens of thousands of Rock Hopper Penguins.
