Palmer’s point is described as the area in the left upper quadrant 3 cm or 2-finger breadth below the costal margin and in the midclavicular line. Raoul Palmer, MD was a French gynecologist who contributed greatly to modern gynecological practice, including the introduction of Palmer’s point in surgical literature. The Palmer’s point entry technique is useful in cases where midline adhesions are suspected or where the umbilical point of entry is at risk such as with periumbilical adhesions or large pelvic tumors.
